Friends. The past few weeks have been a DOOZY. My kids had hand foot and mouth, and it laid us out for a good week and a half. We traveled to Philly for a week in May, but throughout it all, I still managed to read some really awesome books!! As you’ll see below, I’m not quite living up to my plan of reading more non-fiction books, there are just TOO many good fiction books out there!
“I HATE YOU!! I CAN’T GIVE YOU WHAT YOU NEED!!!”
Yes, just a few weeks ago, those harsh words came out of my mouth, directed towards my husband. He just wanted to go fishing, and I cracked. My life felt out of control and too much for me to handle all of the sudden. A simple request from him to go fishing was the straw that broke this mama’s back.
Ya’ll I thought I had killed it with reading the last two months…feeling pretty awesomely book nerdy (although I think that might be an oxymoron…) UNTIL.
Until I heard about a girl named Addy, who’s working her way through the entire Cairn University library by reading 1,000-1,500 books a year. Hello humble pie. Whew, as heavenly as reading that much sounds, like does she have a life outside of reading???
Ok ya’ll. I don’t know about you, but book review day is kinda like Christmas to me. I look at other people’s book review posts and post my own so it’s like the wondrous giving and receiving of Christmas. Yes, I’m a nerd, and I’m ok with that.
So, I kinda went on a book binge these last 2 months. I “blame” it on football/Super Bowl and all my regular shows being on winter hiatus.
If you are a fan of She Reads Truth, then you will absolutely fall in love with this gorgeous Bible. Not that the Bible needs any additional help for you to fall in love with it, but reading something that is as pretty on the outside as it is on the inside never hurts ;)
I’ve been a fan of the website and it’s corresponding app for a long time now, and when I saw that the authors created a beautiful Bible, chock full of Bible studies, Bible reading plans, and creative writing of verses, I was so excited to try it out!
Sometimes it can be difficult to decide where exactly to begin reading the Bible.
The word ANYTHING is defined as: in any degree, to any extent, in any way, at all.
Have you ever wanted something so badly that you say you’d do ANYTHING for it? Maybe a promotion at work, a new pair of boots, or a Hawaiian vacation. As a mom,
some days every day I’d do pretty much anything for an extra hour of sleep or being able to drink an entire cup of coffee while it’s still hot.
But when you really consider the nitty, gritty of the word anything, what people actually mean is, “anything within reason,” or “anything I deem appropriate.” They don’t really mean ANYTHING.
2017 brought about a lot of great things…Stranger Things Season 2, Star Wars whatever number we’re on, Tay went bad girl, “Salt Bae” happened,
men started wearing rompers, and I read 27+ books! (I say 27+ because I only started recording them in March, but I know I read some Jan and Feb, I just didn’t blog about them.)
I wanted to whittle my list down to my top 5, since I’ve been getting a lot of requests for book suggestions lately, but let me tell you, it was a lot harder than it seems!
I don’t know about you, but to me, other than Jesus’ birth, Christmas is all about family, staying in jammies way too long and last but certainly not least, cheesy Christmas movies.
However, we don’t have cable, and I recently learned that Hallmark’s streaming app doesn’t include any of the Christmas movies from the current year.
Soooooo cheesy Christmas books were my next best option.
This monthly post has become one of my favorite to write. I get all geeked out and giddy about remembering the stories and adventures I’d been on over the past 2 months, and sharing them with others.
This past month I traveling throughout India, Australia, Paris, and my own front yard. It was a fabulous month of reading, and I hope some of you will choose to adventure through these books too!
Friends. I have to be honest with you about something.
I’m addicted to my phone.
Like, for real.
I know most of our generation is also addicted, and it’s a millennial thing, yadda yadda yadda. But I’m sick of it. I’m sick of NEEDING my screen. I’m sick of it being the first thing I look at when I wake up, and the last thing I look at before I go to sleep.
