No Phone November.

Friends. I have to be honest with you about something.

I’m addicted to my phone.

Like, for real.

I know most of our generation is also addicted, and it’s a millennial thing, yadda yadda yadda. But I’m sick of it. I’m sick of NEEDING my screen. I’m sick of it being the first thing I look at when I wake up, and the last thing I look at before I go to sleep.

Snap Snap Snaps and Singleness.

So you’re twenty-something, [or thirty-something] and single. And as much fun as Taylor Swift’s song, “22” makes it sound, you are just NOT happy. Most of your friends are either married, engaged, or seriously dating the guy they’re expecting a ring from any day now.

You’ve faced that bittersweet phone call time and time again, where the high-pitched voice of your bff excitedly tells you that in T-a year or less, she’ll have a new best friend, and one that’s a boy.

My Top 15 Health + Fitness Tips.

Over the years, I have read about and tried a TON of different health and fitness books, workouts and diets. Some have worked, some haven’t, but along the way, I learned a lot about what works and doesn’t work for my body.

For example, last week I wrote about my February Whole[ish]30 challenge. Through that experience, I learned that what I needed was a lifestyle diet that I knew I could continue longer term than just 30 days.

On 2016, Mom Life and Turning 30.

Mom Life

You guys, life is just funny. I’ve recently realized that when I think I have it all figured out, I really don’t. “Mom life” is like trying to juggle 52 balls in the air, and realizing you can only handle 1 at a time. In reality, for me, that means just as I’m getting the hang of the mom thing, the rest of it just becomes really tough…being a good wife, a healthy cook/eater, keeping our home clean, trying to get the baby weight off [yes, it’s still there, a year later…] and trying to spend time doing things I enjoy like reading and blogging and showering.

Influence Conference: In Process.

FullSizeRender-3

A few weeks ago I attended my second Influence Conference. This year, getting to the conference was a little more emotional, since it was my first time [ever] leaving Knox overnight. But it taught me the importance of taking time for yourself in the midst of the sacrifices of motherhood.  Those sacrifices are worth every moment motherhood brings, [even the difficult ones] but getting away for a few days to be reminded of my unique influence was incredibly refreshing.

As with last year, the conference was an amazing experience.

Correspondence.

correspondence

You know, there’s something to be said for correspondence. The word itself sounds beautifully old fashioned, and like it should be partnered with candle light and an ink dipped quill. Well, I don’t have a quill, I suppose I could write by candle light, but no matter which way it’s done, there’s nothing like TRUE correspondence.

NOT texting.

NOT emailing.

NOT Facebooking, Instagramming, Snap Chatting or Tweeting.

71 Weeks Later…

Pssst, Knox has some “beary” exciting news to share with you…

71 weeks ago, Stuart and I began a journey that completely changed our lives. We uprooted ourselves, put all our belongings in his parents basement, became nomads, and began raising support for our new ministry with Athletes in Action.

Before we starting raising funds, we attended a training conference where we met some amazing other people who were also beginning their journey of raising support.

It’s Been a While…

You may or may not have noticed that I’ve been slightly MIA from blogging lately. There’s a very good reason for that.

NESTING.

It’s serious, guys. I was a little critical of what exactly went into the whole nesting “thing,” but it’s for real. I am NOT one of those people who normally loves organizing or cleaning, but it’s like someone else has taken over my body and all I want to do is organize, clean, and prepare our living space for our little man.

WE ARE…

If you follow me on Instagram, or are friends with me on Facebook, you may have seen a picture from our celebratory dinner at The Melting Pot on Saturday night…

Melting Pot Collage

…and let me just tell you, eating bread dipped in hot cheese (on the left), and a whole slew of amazing things dipped in melty chocolate (on the right) is the BEST way to celebrate.

Baby Grand is Growing…Week 20.

Week 20

I cannot believe this week marks the halfway point in my pregnancy!! During the first trimester, when I was feeling so nauseous, it felt like each day lasted a whole month. But now it seems like I’ve blinked and I’m already half way through! Crazy.

I had planned on posting this on Monday, the first day of Week 20…I even had it all written up and everything.
