As a busy mom of 2, it can be difficult to find time to spend with the Lord. And when I do have the time, it can be hard to decide what to read, and how to spend my time. Do I just dive right into the Bible? Never a bad idea, but sometimes it’s easier to have some structure. Something to read to go along with a passage of scripture to help you delve deeper into what God is trying to say through His Word.
After a month FULL of traveling in July, that allowed me to read hardly any books, August brought on a quiet normalcy that I was so grateful for! I dove back into my love for reading with a really sweet, breezy trilogy, and continued on to some fabulous books that totally sucked me in! [As always, I hope this encourages you to dive into a good book, and if you have any recommendations of your own, please leave them in the comments!!
If you’re anything like me, you’ll agree there is just not enough time in the day to read all the books that you’d like. Especially if you add in children and traveling. I way overestimated my time and ability to read when we were traveling this summer, and brought about 10 books with me, and guess how many I read while we were away?
Have you heard of “She Reads Truth”?? It’s a website and an app that encourage and give women an easy way to be in the Word of God every day. Not only that, but it’s a community of women reading through the Word of God TOGETHER daily. But if you wish to read through something other than what is the daily reading, there are a bunch of other reading plans you can use for your own daily devotions.
The Gift That I Can Give for little ones by Kathie Lee Gifford
This book is one of the sweetest books I’ve ever read! How many times have we as mothers told our kids they couldn’t do something because they’re “too little?” Well this book is here to say even though they’re little, they can still move mountains.
Written in a beautifully illustrated, durable board book, Katie Lee Gifford gives children hope that even something as “little” as an extra hug, or a visit to a sick friend, can be a gift to make someone’s life better.
Amazing Animal Facts Postcards by Maja Safstrom
I know this isn’t technically a book, but I received these postcards from the publisher in exchange of an honest review. And let me tell you, these animal postcards are the cutest ever! They’re black and white so you can color them, and they offer cute and funny facts about a bunch of different animals!

You guys, life is just funny. I’ve recently realized that when I think I have it all figured out, I really don’t. “Mom life” is like trying to juggle 52 balls in the air, and realizing you can only handle 1 at a time. In reality, for me, that means just as I’m getting the hang of the mom thing, the rest of it just becomes really tough…being a good wife, a healthy cook/eater, keeping our home clean, trying to get the baby weight off [yes, it’s still there, a year later…] and trying to spend time doing things I enjoy like reading and blogging and showering.
