Book Review // NIV Bible for Women

Fridays are for fun right?

Well, what’s more fun than books and great products that will make our lives deeper, better and more enjoyable?

Ok, books may not be your idea of fun, but they are most definitely mine. There’s a ton of books and really great products that I’ve recently began reading and using that I’d love to share with you. So starting today, I’m setting aside Fridays as my blogging day for reviewing books and products, in a hope of simply sharing my love for reading and good quality products with anyone who is interested in a more healthy life, great mommy products and some fab reading material :)

For my first Friday review, I want to share this amazing new NIV Bible for Women

NIV Bible for Women

Some of you may be thinking, “I already have a Bible.” I thought the same thing. I have about a dozen…different versions, study vs. figure-it-out-yourself [is that the opposite of a study Bible?] But this Bible has something very unique. It’s a Bible and a devotional all in one.

But as Shauna Niequist states in the foreword, this Bible is about “Older women taking younger women by the hand, younger women reaching back for the hands of their girls, a chain of generations, each link forged by the rich and powerful word of God, branded deeply on our hearts as we journey.”

This Bible comes with 260 devotions tied to Scripture passages throughout the Bible. Why 260 you may think? Well, that’s one for every week day of the year!

NIV Bible Devotions

There are also 52 “myth” pages. They address common myths and lies women believe about themselves, God and others. Within the myths are personal stories from well known women bloggers, writers and speakers, and how those myths or lies have affected their lives. Scripture is used to equip readers to better fight against those myths and lies in their lives going forward.

This is an awesome Bible, even for someone with a handful on their book shelf already. When you travel you can bring just one book with you, instead of a Bible and a devotional book :) It also has an absolutely gorgeous cover! [Since that’s what’s important about a Bible… ;)]

But all in all, I really love this Bible and have loved reading my way through it with the words of wise women who have been there and done exactly where I’m going and what I’m doing.
